May 25 - May 30, 2017 will be the 28th annual Wakonse Conference for College Teachers, which was first held in May of 1990 at Camp Miniwanca on Lake Michigan.
The aim of the teacher conference is to bring good teachers together to learn from one another in a supportive environment where they can rekindle the spirit for teaching.
Wakonse is a word from the Lakota Indian language meaning to teach, to inspire. The Wakonse Foundation brings together people who find inspiring and influencing others is what they do for a living. We create a climate where participants:
Participants become Wakonse Fellows which means, in the simplest of terms, to support, promote and share the excitement and satisfaction of teaching - to inspire others and ourselves.
